Consulting Approach Dr. Shipherd takes an educational approach in her consulting. She conducts a needs assessment to determine mental strengths and areas for improvement, then she works with her client(s) to analyze the specific demands of the sport to determine the mental skills and tools to focus on. Finally, she customizes a program for the client and works with the client to help them improve their mental skills, and evaluates the program effectiveness. Consulting Experience Dr. Shipherd has been providing mental skills training since 2007, and has worked with NCAA Division 1, NAIA, high school, club, competitive and recreational athletes, teams, and coaches from a variety of sports, including: rugby, soccer, football, gymnastics, softball, track-and-field, cross-country running, and car racing. She has also experience working with exercise and fitness professionals, law enforcement, fire fighters, and EMTs. Dr. Shipherd has given workshops to sports teams, athletes, coaches, exercisers, fitness professionals, law enforcement, and educators on various mental skills training topics.
